Encouragement

Tuesday, May 25, 2010 by Contest Participant
The verses from Luke 11:9-13 in the New Living Translation tell me that if we ask for God's guidance we shall receive it. Therefore if we keep on seeking by studying our Bible we will find the answers to all our questions.

We need to seek and knock on God's word the Bible and God himself will open the door to us. This passage applies in my life to keep searching for God and let him know what we need--like guidance and encouragement--upon all other things through prayer, he will listen to us and we shall receive.

Unity

Tuesday, May 18, 2010 by Contest Participant
The verses from Psalm 133 in the New Living Translation tell me that God blesses Unity.

God is a God of order. When we are one, we are protected by God and the enemy cannot find us, because we are hidden in Christ. Jesus prayed in John 17 that we would be one as He and the Father are one. When we walk in unity then the world will recognize that Jesus is alive and well and working in His Body.

Sent to Love Sacrificially

Tuesday, May 18, 2010 by Contest Participant
The verses from 1 John 4:7-10 in the New Living Translation tell me that as I know God more deeply -- I experience His love more deeply.

I will soak in the fact that God loved me so much that He sent His only Son into the world as a sacrifice for my sin. In doing so I have eternal life in relationship with God. The natural outflow of receiving God's love is to love.

As child of God, I love because I've been loved. Just as the Son was sent in to the world to sacrificially love me - so I as a child of God am now sent into the world to sacrificially love others. If I am not loving those around me -- then I need to spend time knowing God -- because I need to experience His Love in order to Love others around me.

Do What Is Right

Saturday, May 15, 2010 by Contest Participant
The verses from Daniel 3:16-18 in the New Living Translation tell me if I serve God and honor Him regardless of whether I live or die everything will be alright.

The Bible gives us many examples of people who faced difficult challenges but remained true to God. Some died because they refused to deny God, and some survived. The important thing is not whether they lived or died, but what did they do with Jesus?

These verses remind me to live for God each day. I will face challenges, problems, and difficulties, and it is important that I take a stand for God and do what is right according to His word. I do not know when I will die or when the Lord will return, but I want to be ready. I want to honor my Lord and Savior.

Not Beggars but Sons

Friday, May 14, 2010 by Contest Participant
The verses from Luke 11:9-13 in the New Living Translation tell me about my Father in heaven and His heart toward all of His children.

He desires that we would seek His face, to know Him, to ask Him for what we need and keep on asking. A persistent heart before Him cannot be denied, one that is desperately seeking Him shall find Him.  And if we keep "knocking" on the closed doors in our life, He will open them for us and we will be free.

"For everyone who asks, receives." What a promise! He is not stingy with us, or distant and withholding from us, but says that He will give freely to us because we are His children and He is our Father. Jesus gives the analogy of Fathers and their children, how a true loving earthly Father does not trick, manipulate or play with His children by giving them things that could harm them, but He gives them good things.

In comparison, our Heavenly Father gives us so much more than our earthly Father could. When we ask for anything He pours out His Spirit to give us what we are lacking. "How much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him."

Holy Spirit is the seal of promise to us that we are our Fathers' children and not orphans in this world. He gives us the Spirit of Adoption into our spirits that causes us to cry out to God, "ABBA! DADDY!" Jesus has not left us to struggle through life on our own but live free and abundantly through Him.

To me this passage tells me that my Father's Spirit will always be the one alongside of me, dwelling within me that will lead me faithfully.  My part is to keep talking to Him and believing that He will answer. I have seen this that when I am just ready to give up, the moment that I stop trying to do things on my own and turn to my Father seeking Him, and not looking into myself and ask for what I lack, He fills me with new perspective and His strength in the midst of my greatest weakness.

Knowing Love is Knowing God

Wednesday, May 12, 2010 by Contest Participant
Everyone wants to know love. So just learning that God is love in 1 John 4:7-10 in the New Living Translation encourages me to get to know God better!

I'm also a new mother of a son named Darius. How much clearer I can now understand God's sacrifice to send His Son to die for my sins. Now that's love!

But what I think God is teaching me in this passage is to imitate His love more than I do. If I really know God, it is seen through my ability to love. This is what I must work on, and I can start by loving my family members; by showing them God's love and loving them myself even when they are being difficult and seemingly unlovable.

Why I Can Love Others

Tuesday, May 11, 2010 by Contest Participant
The verses from 1 John 4:7-10 in the New Living Translation tell me I can love others because God loved me enough to send His only begotten Son to earth to live and die for my sins.

I am a sinner saved by grace. The more I know about God and what He did and continues to do for me, the more I can love others.

I was abused as a child by a close family member and was psychologically tormented for many years as a result. After I became a child of God I forgave that person and a heavy burden was lifted from my heart and mind. Although it has not been completely erased from my mind, I am at peace with my past. I give glory, honor and praise for the love of God. Because of Him I can love others.

Real Love

Sunday, May 9, 2010 by Contest Participant
The verses from 1 John 4:7-10 in the New Living Translation tell me about the real love God has for us. He loved us so much that He sent His Son to die for our sins. If we love God we can love others. It is easy to love someone who loves us, but it may be difficult to love someone who does not love us. When we realize how much God loved us and accept the gift of salvation, we can love others. Real love from God encourages me to love others-not just today, but every day. I will be kind to others, encourage others, be friendly, have a forgiving heart, etc. Because He loved me, I can love others.

Selfless Love

Saturday, May 8, 2010 by Contest Participant
The verses from 1 John 4:7-10 in the New Living Translation tell me love is not a feeling, but rather a choice, a choice that requires an action as 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 shows.

Our love was born unto us through God.  He is the source of our love. He loved us enough to sacrifice His Son for us. Jesus is our example of love.  He shows us what it means to love and how to love, for in His life and death we find a supremely selfless and perfect love.

The Holy Spirit gives us the power to choose to love.  He lives in our hearts and moulds our hearts to make them like our Lord's.  John said, "God Is Love" and not "Love is God," for God was and is the the creator of love (of the purest form).

God's love is holy, its just and it is perfect. God created us because He loves us His children.  He cares because He loves us (sin and all), God gives us a free choice because he wants us to lovingly choose Him above all.  He chose to sacrifice His only Son as a loving and final solution to the problem of the sin that we all go through each day of our lives.  God loves us so much that He wants us to receive eternal life. God's love expresses itself to us and in us forever.

Just Love One Another

Thursday, May 6, 2010 by Contest Participant
The verses from 1 John 4:7-10 in the New Living Translation tell me "Let us love one another."

Wow!  What an awesome statement - - so simple, yet so powerful.  This is the key to the kingdom, all things will happen as God has planned for us if we will only love one another:  The poor will be cared for, the lonely will be accompanied, the sick will feel better, the frightened will be protected, and the sinners will be forgiven.

I have seen all of this and more by simply showing love - -Gods love.  Any of us can reflect from our hearts to shine a light to anyone who comes into our lives - - who can resist being loved?  I have never met a person in all my life that said,"please stop loving me."  Even if this did happen, it is because human love can only go so far - - we have to know God's love to bring down all the barriers of this life - - to know true contentment.

The verses from 1 John 4:7-10 in the New Living Translation tell me God wants us to be loving to each other.

The world today needs so much love.  We all need to help the people understand that God is the only one that can help them.  I want to help the people to know God is there for them - - because that's what God wants us to do - - help each other to go to Him for all things!

God is Love.

Thursday, May 6, 2010 by Contest Participant
The verses from 1 John 4:7-10 in the New Living Translation tell me that Christ came to die for ALL sinners, including myself. That gives me hope and encouragement as a believer of eternal life - - if I ask Christ to continue abiding in me and me in Him.

Linking these verses to Jesus` two greatest commandments, the Ten Commandments are a transcript of God`s character. God is love. My upward love relationship with God as emphasised in the first four commandments will translate into my love of another as emphasised in the last six commandments. God is teaching me to love Him first to be able to love others.  Like Christ I should love others without expecting anything in return.

The verses are imploring me to start, and continue, living the life of love, to share God`s love with others and encourage others to live a life full of Godly love.

Die to Self

Wednesday, May 5, 2010 by Contest Participant
The verses from 1 Chronicles 28:8-10 in the New Living Translation tell me that in order to know God intimately, I need to worship Him with a selfless heart and mind. By worshiping Him with my whole heart and willing mind, I'm not thinking about myself or the worries of the day. My total focus is on God.

To serve Him, I need to be selfless as well. My whole heart and willing mind will not allow me to serve Him only when I see a benefit in it for me, but regardless of what will happen to me or around me. If I seek God, I will find Him. Again, this needs to be done with my whole heart and willing mind. If I don't seek Him in such a way, how can I expect to find Him? Or to know what His will is for me? How can I expect to know Him intimately if I'm not willing to give Him my whole heart or have a willing mind?

My prayer lately has been to have more of God and less of me in my life. I know my prayer life hasn't been what it should be, and I haven't been truly seeking the Lord with all my heart and with a willing mind. I need to rectify this if I want to know Him intimately and to hear His voice again.

Show God's love to the World

Wednesday, May 5, 2010 by Contest Participant
The verses from 1 John 4:7-10 in the New Living Translation tell me that God is love and that He loved us enough to send his son, Jesus, to die for our sins, so that we could live forever with Him in eternity.

If we truly love God then we will also, as an outpouring of that love, love others. I believe we are not only to love our christian brothers and sisters, but all people. God places His love in our hearts so that we will give it to others, and who needs to see God's love more than sinners, who are separated from God?

If you truly love others then you will be willing to sacrifice your time, talents, and your finances to show that love. If you can't love others then you don't truly know God as your Savior. The fullness of God's love in your heart has to be given to others or it is wasted.

I have met many people in my life who were so filled with the spirit of God that I could see and feel His love emanating from them. I am in awe of those saints and pray that when I interact with others that they can see that same glow of God's love in me.

The verses from Galatians 3:26-29 in the New Living Translation tell me I am heir to the Abrahamic covenant.

Through God's grace displayed powerfully in Jesus Christ's work on the cross I have been forgiven. Now I am accepted by God into the covenant He made with Abraham, and get to share in the blessings promised to God's people. This is not because of any power or skill on my part, but because in humility I accept God's rule over my life and power to change and graft me into his promises.

I belong! This is awesome!
