New Living Translation Study Bible

The verses from Luke 11:9-13 in the New Living Translation tell me that if we ask for God's guidance we shall receive it. Therefore if we keep on seeking by studying our Bible we will find the answers to all our questions. 

We need to seek and knock on God's word the Bible and God himself will open the door to us. This passage applies in my life to keep searching for God and let him know what we need--like guidance and encouragement--upon all other things through prayer, he will listen to us and we shall receive.

The verses from 1 Chronicles 28:8-10 in the New Living Translation tell me God waits ernestly for us to believe and fellowship with Him.

He takes such joy in our "wanting" to spend time with Him. The more I spend time in His Word and in prayer, the more excited I get and the more He reveals Himself to me in amazing ways!

There was a time where I would have been scared to know that He knows my every thought and plan; yet now I relish the idea that although I still feel so small, He knows my heart is in His very heart.

This passage reminds me that I must apply my whole mind and heart and daily actions to what will glorify Him. I must learn to leave my comfort zone and share with others the great love He has for us the eternal life available to us all.

The verses from Daniel 3:16-18 in the New Living Translation tell me that God loves me very much.  That is why He sometimes puts me to test to strengthen my faith in Him.  Thus I am encouraged to serve Him always and trust Him with my problems.

What God is teaching me in this passage is that He is a consuming fire therefore when I am faced with fire like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, I should just realise instantly that when the consuming fire comes, that blazing furnace cannot consume me.  Neither will any situation overpower me because he will be there to save me.

In my own life, I have learnt not to be afraid of what man will do because only God is omnipotent and all-knowing. He is my shepherd, I will fear no evil. Amen.

The verses from Luke 11:9-13 in the New Living Translation tell me to keep on asking, keep on seeking, keep on knocking.

Our Heavenly Father has given us the gift of the Holy Spirit, our Helper, our Advocate and so much more. At times, when the trouble comes, I shrink back and look at the situation in the natural and allow fear and hopelessness to come in.

But then I am reminded of His Word and the promises He has for me--that God is greater in me than he that is in the world. I have the Holy Sprirt within me. His WORD is TRUTH. That I need to trust in Him and trust in His Word.

No matter the situation, keep on asking. It might look hopeless, but keep on seeking. Prayer hasn't been answered, but keep on knocking. The Word builds our faith, it brings a confidence in His promises, a strength to overcome, and the courage to keep pressing on.

The verses from Daniel 3:16-18 in the New Living Translation tell me that these three men had complete and pure faith in God. They knew without a doubt that there is only one true Lord and that is our Father God.

This passage buoys my faith in a time when so many are focused on the stock market, the housing market and job security. We are not supposed to focus on those things because they are false idols. We can have all the personal wealth in the world, but if we do not have complete faith that our Lord and Savior will always protect and provide for us, then we have nothing. This life is but a mere test of our faith in God. If we have faith and remain true to him then we will have life everlasting in him.

The verses from Daniel 3:16-18 in the New Living Translation tell me that God is with me through the good and the bad. He never deserts or betrays me.

Whatever is God's will for my life is a MUCH better life than living without being in God's will. I lost my husband (age 25), a son (age 15), both parents, and all grandparents before I turned 47 years old. But, I know through all of the losses, the heartache, the questions and the grief, God is holding my hand. Somehow--I don't know how--He has a plan for my life.

The Bible gives us many examples of people who faced difficult challenges but remained true to God. Some died because they refused to deny God, and some survived. The important thing is not whether they lived or died, but what did they do with Jesus?

These verses remind me to live for God each day. I will face challenges, problems, and difficulties, and it is important that I take a stand for God and do what is right according to His word. I do not know when I will die or when the Lord will return, but I want to be ready. I want to honor my Lord and Savior.

These verses from Psalm 133 in the New Living Translation of the Bible encourage me to know God better because I can see the way he gave harmony to Aaron.  This makes me wonder if God is really true.  If so how will I find him?

I live in a family where harmony, peace and tranquility aren't easily found.  It is very hard to escape from that. I long for some reflection time to get away to find myself and expreience this precious harmony that Psalm 133 speaks of.

In this passage, God is teaching us that harmony is found in everything and not just in the obvious things.  Harmony is everlasting.  We need to value the precious moments of peace and harmony when we get them and that is why I truly believe that I deserve this trip.  

For many reasons I never get the opportunity to experience this feeling of peace and harmony.  This makes me wonder to myself why some people are fortuante enough to experience this and others don't.

This passage applies to my life because I would strongly benefit the time to live with people in harmony. If I could experience this blessing for myself it would help me in my everyday life because I could then help others and give advice on how to escape to a place of harmony.  But as we all know, we cannot give people good advice unless we understand what it is like. Please help me and give me this chance of a lifetime and I will forever be grateful.

The verses from Luke 11:9-13 in the New Living Translation tell me about my Father in heaven and His heart toward all of His children.

He desires that we would seek His face, to know Him, to ask Him for what we need and keep on asking. A persistent heart before Him cannot be denied, one that is desperately seeking Him shall find Him.  And if we keep "knocking" on the closed doors in our life, He will open them for us and we will be free.

"For everyone who asks, receives." What a promise! He is not stingy with us, or distant and withholding from us, but says that He will give freely to us because we are His children and He is our Father. Jesus gives the analogy of Fathers and their children, how a true loving earthly Father does not trick, manipulate or play with His children by giving them things that could harm them, but He gives them good things.

In comparison, our Heavenly Father gives us so much more than our earthly Father could. When we ask for anything He pours out His Spirit to give us what we are lacking. "How much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him."

Holy Spirit is the seal of promise to us that we are our Fathers' children and not orphans in this world. He gives us the Spirit of Adoption into our spirits that causes us to cry out to God, "ABBA! DADDY!" Jesus has not left us to struggle through life on our own but live free and abundantly through Him.

To me this passage tells me that my Father's Spirit will always be the one alongside of me, dwelling within me that will lead me faithfully.  My part is to keep talking to Him and believing that He will answer. I have seen this that when I am just ready to give up, the moment that I stop trying to do things on my own and turn to my Father seeking Him, and not looking into myself and ask for what I lack, He fills me with new perspective and His strength in the midst of my greatest weakness.

The verses from Luke 11:9-13 in the New Living Translation tell me that sometimes it takes persistance when seeking the Lord. It's not that He isn't there, but that sometimes we need to push through and persevere to obtain the blessing.

He promises me that "everyone" who seeks finds. No one else but the Lord can guarantee this kind of a promise. God would not have used the word "everyone" if He did not have the power, resources and ability to supply everyone with His Holy Spirit.

This passage of scripture encourages me to seek the Lord, and press in to really have that personal relationship. The Lord isn't annoyed with my persistance, He isn't going to shut the door in my face, and He never tires of my asking--that is so comforting.

I can relate this passage of scripture to my own journey as a parent.  At times my children think that Mom is not going to come through, just because my response isn't instant or isn't waht they think, but they don't realize just how much I love them, and how it is my good pleasure to fulfill their desires, and bless them in every way I know how.

Having children and being a child of God, has taught me just how much my heavenly Father does love me, and does desire to give good gifts. They might not always be what I think, but they are always good, and the Holy Spirit being the best gift is my comfort and my constant companion.

The verses from 1 John 4:7-10 in the New Living Translation tell me God loved us before we would have considered ourselves loveable!

This is what God wants us to remember--that He loves us even when we fail, fall short or stumble.  God knew what we were before He sent Jesus to redeem us--a lost and dying people, dead in our sin and unknowing of our filthy lifestyle and the harm we were causing by not loving one another!

God wants us to know His love and learn to love each other the way He first loved us, overlooking the faults and annoying behavior to see only the heart and not the mire each of us have surrounding us!God loves us and to show Him we love Him we should actively show love to one another!

The verses from Galatians 3:26-29 in the New Living Translation tell me that this was written to the Church in Galatia which had knowledge of Christ's life and message first or second hand. It meant something deeper to them, I believe, when the writer says "through faith in Christ Jesus."

When a person was baptized then, they were baptized to be associated with the teaching of a "Rabbi" or Master teacher. Jesus was such to His followers.

Faith in Christ means I have bought into what Jesus taught and have become a disciple of His school of thought. It also means that I have accepted him as Lord since Jesus testified to the truth that He indeed was the Son of God. I also believe that He rose from the dead as He promised He would since He is "The Truth." So I am gloriously a child of God by the faith in Christ!

Personally, this portion also means I am submitting myself to the transformation process (renewing my mind) whereby I am changed into the very image of Christ. Glorious!

Because this is all possible by God's great grace, all who come this way are also recipients of that same grace and take on the same nature (spirit) and character of Christ. So since I am cautioned to know no man after the flesh, I see each of us who have come this way the same.  I see Christ. We are one! Now since I am Christ's (one with him) and HE was the "seed" of Abraham prophetically described in the promise, I AM the TRUE child of Abraham by becoming one with Christ and as such an heir to the promise God made to Abraham!

So right now I am the head, not the tail, I am healed and no weapon formed against me shall prosper. Basically, I have dominion in this earth! And by faith I MUST walk in it, daily, by disciplining myself and rehearsing the scriptures that build me in this truth.

I understand these verses in I John 4 from the New Living Translation of the Bible as God's unconditional love to us.  We must be with him in order for him to respond our needs, not just because we need something.  That's why we pray to him.  We must be working to make our faith stronger as time passes.  It's just like you're building a house and really need a strong foundation--this is it how much we value God.

God teaches me in the passage that there's nothing impossible to him.  If you have determination to achieve your goals in life there's nothing impossible.  He will guide you along your chosen path in life. This passage means so much to me.  I'm a fresh nursing graduate last March 2010, and I have already proven how this passage works for me. 

My family--especially my dad--are very religious.  We pray the rosary almost every night as well reading the daily Gospel.  This passage helps me to become a better person, to be strong despite of all the circumstances I have encountered in my life.

I also prove that in God nothing is impossible. If you always count on him He will never leave you but sometimes He will give you unfavorable events in your life and test your faith. It's up to you if you give up or remain faithful to HIM.

The verses from 1 Chronicles 28:8-10 in the New Living Translation tell me that Solomon had it all given to him, a throne, riches, godly wisdom, but it wasn't enough.

Though Solomon's father David was a man after God's own heart, one who longed to truly know God and loved to be in His house, Solomon had to choose for himself. Would he apply himself to truly know the God of David, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob? Would he serve him with all of his passion and might? No, we find out later that Solomon left the purity of worshipping the One True God, marrying women who demanded their right to bring idols and gods from their home countries.

A life set on God. That's what I want. These things must be committed to and planned beforehand. Nothing...not fears, not friends, not anything must find its way between us and God. Protected, nurtured and cherished, a life in God requires constant care and commitment of time and affection. And what is the treasure? If we seek him, we will find him. Oh, how He longs to found by those set on seeking His wonderful face.

It is precious to the Lord that his children live without harmony. It is essential to Him that we do. Several other verses state that we are to love one another and put others before ourselves. If we do this, harmony is sure to follow.
